The Window Between Time

Unless you are a primary carer, work in retail, customer care, the emergency services, or NHS, the void between the 24th of December and the 2nd of January can be one long duvet day of binging on your favourite things.

If not reading, most authors I know are spending time with family or friends and absorbing Expanse, Witcher and Lost In Space.

People, like novels, develop while they rest.

This break in the usual schedules is my planning and reflection window – once I allow myself to relax a little. No writing, instead, it is spent mapping out both family and work based requirements for the coming year, budgets and projects not to mention the events I don’t want to miss.

No resolutions. Who needs that stress?

While its easy to get caught up in the push for the right gift, landing an agent, prepping the next book for publication, fending off lurgy, getting on top of the housework or making sure those around you aren’t going without, Reconnecting. An Illustration of mulled wine in a glass with cinamon sticks on a blue backgroundbe sure to take time for yourselves over the holiday period. Swtich off. Explore. Drop in on a friend you haven’t seen in a while. Pick up a book outside your usual genre.

Reconnect with the things that are important to you.

What ever you do, stay safe and stay warm!
